Frequently Asked
Questions
How does The Kingdom Institute's OBS
fit into Word of Christ International Church's vision?
The Kingdom Institute (TKI) lies at
the center of a vision the Holy Spirit has given Word of
Christ International Church. TKI will be a
broad-based, multi-faceted training center to educate, equip
and train believers to live a Kingdom life. We believe
the greatest expression of the Gospel is its demonstration
in the lives of believers, supernaturally walking through
everyday life. You can read more about this vision at
our website
www.wocic.com (see the
About Us page). OBS is our first step towards the
realization of this vision and an important building block
of The Kingdom Institute. Every believer needs a solid and strong
foundation for God to build upon ... OBS will assist in
this area by proving a convenient and cost-effective Bible
education that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
365 days a year.
Is OBS accredited?
OBS' accreditation comes from our agreement with Christian
Leadership University (CLU), which is accredited by the
Worldwide Accreditation Commission of Christian Educational
Institutions and certified by
the Apostolic Council for Educational Accountability (ACEA),
formed by Dr. C. Peter Wagner specifically for the new
apostolic churches that are emerging. OBS has an agreement with CLU, whereby CLU
will accept 30 earned credits from OBS towards an associate
or bachelor degree program at CLU. A total of 60
credits are required to earn an associate degree at CLU, or
120 credits for a bachelor degree. See this letter from the
president of CLU for further information ...
Letter from CLU.
You can learn more about CLU by viewing their website ...
www.cluonline.com.
OBS credits are earned when a student enrolls in the
low-cost accredited program, earns no lower than a "B" in
each course, and completes all course requirements.
What is the difference
between the free and accredited program?
The free program simply
makes the course materials available to the student with no
further requirements. In the accredited program, the student
pays a fee per course. Upon completion,
the student receives a printed Certificate of Biblical
Studies and a transcript. If the student wishes, the
transcript will be forwarded to CLU in order to transfer the
credits earned towards an
associate or
bachelor degree program at CLU.
How does the cost for the accredited program compare to
other programs?
The cost for the entire OBS accredited program is $550 ...
or about $18 per credit (total of 30 credits). If you
pay your tuition upfront, you will save an additional $50,
bringing you cost per credit down to around $16. The typical
cost per credit for
a comparable
education is $100 per credit. That's an 84% bottom-line
savings for students who wish to earn credits that can be
transferred towards an associate or bachelor degree program
at CLU.
How can I start?
Simply by completing the enrollment form.
You will receive a password that will allow to access the
Classroom page, which contains the course material, exams,
answer keys, reading assignments and grade submission forms.
When can I start?
Immediately! Because there is no
physical classroom to attend, there is no set schedule that
you must conform to. As soon as you access your course
materials you may begin, and your studies continue at your
own pace until you complete them.
How long does it
typically take
to complete the OBS program?
The courses are entirely
self-paced, so each person’s time to completion will vary.
The curriculum has been assessed for college credit, so a
college-equivalent experience is expected. For the
average student, each module will require approximately 180
hours to successfully complete.
How can I connect with other OBS students?
A
Google Discussion Group
has been set up for OBS. This is an online
forum where you can interact with other OBS students
that also sign up. The first time you access the group,
you need to "sign in". Instructions are
provided on the Google Group page.
How are exams graded?
We operate on an honor system. Along
with the exams we also provide the student with the answer
key to be used for self-grading. We trust each student
to follow instructions, be honest in their self -grading,
and take all exams with closed books.
If I enroll in the
free program and decide to pay at a later date will I get credit for the courses I have
already taken?
Once you pay the course fees, the courses you have taken become
eligible under the accredited program. You do not have to take them again
as long as you have received a grade B or higher. You will need to
submit your grades, complete your reading assignments, and
make your payments so your transcript can
be updated.
What curriculum does
OBS use?
OBS
uses the curriculum published by the Harvestime Institute.
The curriculum is divided into four modules designed around
a theme with each module generally increasing in the level
of challenge it presents. Based on a foundation of biblical
studies, the Harvestime curriculum brings learners closer to
God through knowledge of the Word and experience of God’s
love. Beginning with a comprehensive overview of the
scriptures, the OBS curriculum integrates personal,
community, and special applications of God’s Word. By
completing the program, learners encounter God’s presence in
their lives, work, church, and community.
Is there a requirement
to read books in addition to the course material?
For each module there is a required reading assignment that
compliments the topic being studied. This information
will be noted on the
Classroom
page, along with a link
to a online book store where it can be purchased.
How are the courses
administered?
Courses are located
online in the Classroom page in Adobe Acrobat Reader ("pdf") file format (if you
do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer,
you can download a free copy by clicking on the link at the
bottom of any page on this website.)
Exams are also provided on the Classroom page with access to
forms to submit your grades online.
If I am an accredited
student, how do I pay for my courses?
Go to our Payment Center page. You will receive
instructions on how and when to submit your payments.
I forgot my password,
